ABOUT DONGARA & PORT DENISON

Staying at Port Denison Holiday units you’ll be ideally located to make the most of the many attractions and sites.

The twin towns of Dongara and Port Denison sit side by side separated only by the Irwin River. They are the local centre for the surrounding industries of crayfishing, fishing and farming, not to mention a very popular location for retirees and those seeking a quiet beach lifestyle.

Together the towns offer something for everyone including scenic and historic walkways, cafe dining and local shopping, endless beach options for fishing, swimming and surfing, wild flower drive, parks, playgrounds, sports and recreation and our iconic drive-in cinema(one of the only ones left in Western Australia).

Our tips to see & do

  • Soak up the surf, sun and sand at South Beach. Walk or drive as far as you want, South Beach has enough space for everyone.
  • If you’re in town in the warmer months, take in a Saturday evening movie at the Drive-in Cinema. Screening fortnightly, speak to Sheryl for session times.
  • Walk your way around Port Denison following the Irwin River Nature Trail. Don’t forget your camera for the wildlife and the spectacular coastal scenery.
  • Relax with a picnic at the Port Denison foreshore. Find some shade, sprawl on the lawn, play on the playground and enjoy the view.
  • Unwind and watch the day go by with a counter meal or restaurant dining at Southerly’s Harbour View Bar and Resaurant.
  • Follow the walkway along the Port Denison foreshore to the Fisherman’s lookout – Obelisk. Admire the panoramic view of the harbour and surrounds in the daytime and the glorious colours of the sunset at dusk.

Local attractions, sites and events vary throughout the seasons. Contacts Us for plenty more ideas.

Clean and tidy units. Location is great, right on the water with a convenience store a 2 minute walk from the front door as well as a bottle shop and the southerly bar only 3 minutes walk away. Recommend bringing your own pillows as the ones provided were a bit uncomfortable. Beds are quite firm. I stayed in unit 3 so this may be different in other units. Parking was directly in front of your unit which was also convenient

Loved our three night stay here. Comfortable beds and very spacious units. You can park your car right at the front door. Great fish and chip shop and seafood shop a few minutes away. We had unit 1 and it was really special as you only had to walk out the back door and you had great views of the marina that we enjoyed over coffee each afternoon. Vicki and Colleen looked after us really well from our first enquiry to departure. Would be happy to highly recommend this property. We look forward to returning again for five nights next year.
